Alpha: Alumni Success

Because an Alpha Education Doesn’t End at Graduation

Alpha was built on the idea that all young people have a fundamental right to an excellent education. As a collective — staff, teachers, families, and community members — we prepare students academically and guide them in building character habits. We make sure students develop what’s needed to succeed in college and thrive in life.

Alumni Success

Helping Alpha Grads Complete College

The Alpha: Alumni Success team includes:

Alumni Advisors (full time program staff) and College Mentors (part-time peer staff).

Alumni Advisors

Once students graduate from Alpha, they can count on Alumni Advisors to support their transition to college and career. Throughout their college experience, students can turn to their Alumni Advisors for counseling, whether that’s making connections or getting some heart-felt encouragement.

College Mentors

College Mentors are Alpha alumni who are, themselves, enrolled in college, and provide mentorship and support to their peers who may be less far along in their college journeys.

WAYS TO GIVE

Support Alpha: Alumni Success

Although Alpha Public Schools is a publicly funded school system, this funding does not support Alpha: Alumni Success. We partner with generous friends to provide the resources our scholars need for college and career success—because an Alpha education doesn’t end at graduation.

Last Dollar Scholarships

Financial assistance for Alpha alumni enrolled in college who may fall on unexpected hard times and need a grant to help them through the crisis.

Alpha: College & Career Transition

A gift will enable Alpha to give our juniors and seniors as well as those alumni looking at continuing their college education or entering careers the opportunity to visit college campuses to learn more about majors and programs available to Alpha’s graduating scholars.

Alpha: Alumni Advisory Program

A gift to this program supports the efforts of Alpha’s alumni advisors who meet regularly with our scholars to support their transition to college and career.

Glover Scholarship

Named in honor of Alpha Public Schools’ founder, John Glover, the $1,500 Glover Scholarship is awarded annually by Alpha’s Board of Directors to the Alpha: Cindy Avitia graduate who demonstrates Civic Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Community Building.
